When I started mailling, I used bright aluminum, a light metal that is cheap and easy to work with. Due to issues with ruboff, I switched to stainless steel as my primary material. I currently use stainless steel (for strength), anodized aluminum (for colors), titanium (for cool factor) and sterling silver (for pretty factor).
